PHOBIA BUST

IMG_8610.JPG

Significance behind the color green: Although green is also associated with the beauty of nature, I used green to represent the severity of phobias. The brownish green I used represents the decaying of one's body once phobias are granted the chance to take over.

My "Bust Project" was inspired by some of the most common phobias. Phobias tend to engulf our lives and prevent us from living to our full capacity. This piece is meant to display a figure whose life has been overtaken by constant fear.

In my bust I used the small holes, spider, and snake to represent common phobias such as trypophobia, arachnophobia, and ophidophobia. I also used the green glaze to represent my own phobia of illnesses (Emetephobia).

The Original Sketch:

My original sketch included nearly all of the same phobias I used in my real piece. Some of the major changes I made to this idea before finalizing my construction plan was adding hair to my bust, and eliminating the syringe. I used similar details on my actual piece but changed their location and proportions.
